Election program 2026-2030

Election Day: March 18, 2026

Vlieland belongs to all of us.

ABV stands for local social: a safe, liveable island where everyone feels at home and can participate: from young to old, born in Vlielander to newcomer.

We opt for decisiveness: affordable housing, good care, strong facilities and tourism in balance.

1. Care & Welfare
  • Maintain current care facilities.
  • Maintain WMO transport.
  • Initiatives against loneliness: such as a buddy app group.

2. Housing & Liveability
  • More affordable housing: support for the realisation of social housing at the location of the old library, research and realisation of a residential area at the Vliehorst location, combining underground parking with housing, investigating whether it is possible to build on or next to the Natura 2000 site.
  • Realistic planning based on demographic trends.
  • Enforcement on residential use.
  • Preservation of facilities: Flidunen and De Jutter must remain.

3. Community & Culture
  • Preservation of small-scale and island character.
  • Families as the foundation of the community.
  • Preservation of Vlielander traditions and associations.
  • Support for cultural initiatives that fit our island.

4. Education & Work
  • Support for Vlieland Academy to expand various MBO vocational training courses, in addition to catering, construction and technology, among other things, and for diversity in local employment.

5. Tourism & Economy
  • Tourism in balance: preservation of Vlieland's character, no increase in scale.
  • Collaboration with entrepreneurs for diversity of the catering offer and affordability.

6. Board

  • Financially healthy governance: less overhead, less external hiring, responsible handling of public money.
  • Organizing foundations more efficiently: cooperation in technical department, administration and management to save costs.
  • Responsible handling of subsidy funds.
  • Establish a municipal referendum.

7. Sustainability & Mobility

  • Stimulating local sustainable initiatives.
  • No pilot projects, just proven technology.
  • Exploring possibilities for energy independence.
  • Protecting car-free Vlieland: stricter enforcement of T-exemptions. Company cars park outside the village Thursday to Monday after use.
